Miguel Silva, web developer in Portugal
I am Miguel Silva, a web developer in Portugal, based in Portimão. I build websites and web apps for small businesses, and I work on map platforms used by the Portuguese state.
Career
I graduated in Computer Engineering from the University of the Algarve in 2025. Since November 2025 I have been a web application developer at WKT, where I work on ScalarGIS, an open source web mapping platform that runs in production at Portugal’s national mapping agency (DGT) and at several municipalities.
There I built the online shop of the next version of SNIC from scratch, with payments by DUC reference and MB WAY, invoicing and digital signing of documents. I migrated the whole frontend to a new interface library without stopping the installations in production, and I connected the platform to Chave Móvel Digital, the Portuguese state’s digital sign-in.
On my own
Since 2026 I have built websites and web apps for small businesses, from the code to the hosting. You talk to me directly at every stage, and I do the work myself.
How I work
I like to understand how something works before I change it. I document what I do, so the next person does not have to guess. I speak Portuguese (native) and English (fluent).
